I know the trees are probably still up in many homes, but surely the humans and dogs have played with their presents by now.
Did anyone get (or give) anything fun? Any LB gift certificates spent yet? Any dogs hanging out in front of the cupboard where the new marker rewards are kept?
(I thought of this post when I read how Duane was deciding to spend his LB GC. )
I got the book "Get Connected With Your Dog" by Brenda Aloff, which I've just begun reading. It's pretty lengthy, but very applicable with my fearful dog, Vigo. It's awesome to be able to read the book and see even more of the progress we are making.
Other gifts included a new soft-sided crate...I seem to need one every Christmas, so I tried a different brand this time. I got the Susan Clothier DVD called "Arousal, Fear and Anxiety: Empathy, Understanding and Options for Fearful or Anxious Dogs". Really looking forward to watching that! Also, got a new vest with pockets for Vigo - with Working Dog Do Not Pet and In Training patches. Hopefully, it keeps people away...if not, he can carry the poop bags and my keys now ROFL.
Oh and I got a gift certificate to my favorite training place...that will come in handy as classes start up in a few weeks.
I got a meat grinder for my pups so I can make some ground treats and pre-mixed Kong filler to freeze in large quantities. (YAY!)Also got some Christmas costruction work done as a present- instead of ripping out a closet for a mud-room, we made it into the crate room and eliminated the giant "elephant" in the living room (and bedroom, and dining room...)
I'm feeling a little out of place amongst the other moms when they ask me what I got from my kids. Apparently ammo, a holster and ear plugs are not socially acceptable gifts in the stay-at-home mom circles

My hooligans got a bunch of new toys/tugs/treats on Christmas...but the paws-down winner was the Star Mark Everlasting Treat Ball. This thing kept Cinco entertained for hours. And while it wasn't EVER-lasting, it did last a long time. Now I've got to get some more of those hard chew-treat-things you wedge inside it. I don't know what they are made of, but I think they include opium.
My husband has been home for 10 days, a first in 36 yrs married to a doctor. It's been a vacation.
Terrific.
He's keeping the woodstove going and helping with chores. He swept out the garage.
These are great gifts!

Those are awesome gifts! I absolutely cannot imagine 10 whole days without my husband having to run to the Dairy. Our goal is Fridays off....someday
