I am interested in a couple of dogs from Bo Micus at K9 Ambassador. Does anyone have any experience or dealings with this company or individual? So far everything looks legit. PM me if you can give input.
Don't know anything about them. But if they are claiming to train & sell all the breeds listed as available in show line dogs & trained for PP dogs along with labs & goldens as personal protection dogs...I'd be looking elsewhere.
I understand what you guys are thinking, and I had the same thought initially. However, if you look a little deeper you'll see that they are offering them as obedient companions. In our conversations, they have only offered my Czech line GSD's for what I am looking for.
BTW, thanks for actually taking the time to give your insight! I appreciate it.
From what I've seen, these network breeders don't actually breed all of the dogs themselves. They are middlemen that contract with multiple breeders, but represent themselves as THE breeder. Some people would rather deal directly with the kennel that is doing the breeding, rather than take it for granted that the middleman is looking out for the buyer's best interests.
Again, my opinion only.
ETA; If they are breeding all of these dogs themselves, then it might be something akin to a puppy mill.
Did you understand what Anne was getting at about passing show-line dogs off for protection/sport dogs?

I would still be a bit put off with someplace that wanted to just hand over a so-called PP dog to someone over the net.
Are you going there to meet, train with & pick up this dog & take him home or are they just sticking it on a flight to you?
Do you have experience in handling protection trained dogs? How much?
Do you have the ability(financial, time & proper decoy) to work this dog on a regular basis & with someone with knowledge in PP dogs to continue this dog's training & your & keeping his skills honed?
Do you have the proper set up at home to contain this dog properly?
How about other family members..what will be their contact with this dog?
Are they set up to have someone work with you with this so-called PP trained dog? There should be a period of days even a week or more of their training you with you & this new dog.
What kind of guarantees do they offer? In writing? RE: health of the dog, ability to do his job etc etc.
I could go on & on...but I will stop here. Just some food for thought.

Thank you Ann. Yes, I have ample experience with
pp Dogs and have own/train sport/pp dogs in the past. We live out of the country now and have been out of the dog world for a while, but were looking for a new dog now that we'll be in a permanent place. We are taking such things into account and these discussions are only preliminary (very). We're just looking for a place to start as it seems hard to get back into the dog world loop after a few years. We are simply looking and there are not many good options here in Latin America. I would love to be able to visit several kennels and talk to the folks at the local clubs back in the states, but it just isn't happening from 3000 miles away.
Maybe you can try to dig up some old contacts from the past & see if you can get some referrals from there.
I think just buying a so-called PPD sight unseen & that you personally have not handled could be a big a Rx for trouble. Not to mention, the price of the dog + shipping costs that are involved. You might end up with a pig in a poke...let alone possibly a dangerous dog that can't even do the work you paid for.
If you have experience & someone knowlegable in PP decoy work...you'd be better off with a green dog that is 12-18 months that looks like it can do the work from some videos that you have seen ( & they actually send you the dog you see on the videos) & do your own training. It's going to be a crap shoot no matter how you look at it, if you can't personally be there to see the dog & work with the dog. At least a younger dog isn't going to be as priced as outrageously as what you would pay for a 'trained' dog.
I guess caviat emptor are the words of the day. Good luck.
