My dog Terra can't have vaccinations due to health reasons. Could I compete with her or do all dogs have to have vaccinations. I have a letter from my vet. Just wondering.
She is in school now and I am training her and watching to see what she excels in. Right now it looks like scent work.

Sharon, it's been awhile since I competed but I was never asked about vaccinations. Of course the actual competions are run by the Clubs but none of them ever asked either. Don't know if that's changed at all.
But, even if anyone does ask I would think a note from your vet would be sufficient.
I have been wanting to do some CGC training with my pup, but all the programs in my area list the DHLPP + rabies as required. I have followed Dr. Jean Dodds' protocols, so he has received his Parvo, Distemper, rabies. I haven't spoken to anyone in person about it, I have just seen what they list on their websites. I think I will call them soon to see how strict the local clubs are about it.
When I used to show my ILP Flat-coated Retriever in AKC agility, those regulations were in effect and I was never questioned, which is good she wasn't vaccinated. I wouldn't worry about it or get a note from your vet if you can in case you think you might need it.
A tired dog is a good dog, a trained dog is a better dog.
I've never been asked and neither has my dog's breeder, or any friends from competitions etc. The tricky bit can be if you're crossing state lines frequently you want to have a proof of rabies/titres paperwork with you.
The wording in most show premiums is usually "Appropriate vaccinations as recommended by your veterinarian".
At my club you need Rabies/Distemper parvo to take a class but for just showing... eh. They don't really care/assume you're reasonable.

It is better to beg forgiveness than ask permission in this case.
Most will never ask to see vaccination records and even if they got them wouldn't know what they're reading. They don't know what DHLPP+ stands for they just know that's the combo shot their vet gives their dog every year. :rolls eyes: If asked just say he is "up to date on all REQUIRED vaccines". Puppy classes will often ask that two sets of parvo/distemper have been done.
I would also black out the "due date" if it's something stupid like a "booster" 3 weeks after an initial vaccine. I have a vet office I can add to my "never going there" list after finding booster shot due dates on a previously vaccinated adult dog.
