Does anybody know of a decent dog trainer that does group classes in Avondale, AZ? I'm just looking for basic pet level stuff. The trainer would need to be open to me using a plastic prong collar on Tanner. He is doing very well with it.
I'm going to be asking for a refund from the one I'm currently attending. It's 98% lecture. I feel like I should just leave my dog at home rather than let him get bored/frustrated at being asked to do nothing for an hour. The trainer also has allowed a reactive dog into the class who has snapped at my boy with intent to connect and didn't say anything when the owner was petting the dog while it was growling/lip curling. The class is in too small of an area to put up with that.
Avondale is on the western edge of Phoenix. I was actually looking at getting a dog from Alpine k9 before I realized how few renting places will allow a GSD. I'll give them a call.
I have a friend living in AZ but I'm not exactly sure what part of AZ. I've sent her an email to see if she has any suggestions. I'll let you know what I hear back.

Thanks for bumping it Connie. It's hard to find anything this far west in the city and with the way gas prices are I need it to be relatively close.
We're sticking it out through this class. The reactive dog chilled after the first class and the trainer has been careful to police the owners handling and his dogs movements much better. She promised that we would be doing more moving around in class. This last class we practiced stuff for maybe 10 minutes out of an hour long class. I'm still not really happy with it but it's more of a differing goals issue than her not running a decent class so I won't be asking for a refund anymore.
Tanner is off the plastic prong and moved to a slip lead so we're now able to look at the classes that wouldn't allow him in on the prong. I may be able to find something now.
