Interesting, thanks for sharing! too bad they weren't willing to share which manuf. they tested. I don't have room for more than one crate in my vehicle so that's not a viable solution for me either... I have been using the Roadie by this company: http://www.ruffrider.com/
I'm seeing some red flags with this group. They seem to have quite a large group of people with high level corporate business experience. I'd like to see who thier biggest donors are. Those crash tests and the dummy would have taken some serious money.
The serious money was probably spent by the harness compan(ies) and now that the results are so bad, they can't name anybody!
I think the dummy was just a stuffed animal, so not much expense there. They may have used dead dogs for some tests (they do for human tests, dead humans I mean) but just not wanted to put that out there.
In order to establish tolerances, dummies won't do it. You have to have actual humans (or dogs) to establish what force is needed to cause damage. THEN you can use dummies to measure force thresholds. Another fun way you can still be useful after you are dead!
They produce the dummy and are "willing to license it" to harness producers. I like that they're testing the harnesses because some are just pathetic for what they claim but they look like they're trying to corner the market and become the standard that everybody has to pay them to use.
I find it interesting that they have conducted crate tests and said it caused them concern but no results or videos have been released.
Not releasing the manufacturers names is ridiculous and shows their true motives. I would like to know the brand of harness that nearly decapitated the test dog.
