dave , is she still operational , 'cause otherwise i can't think of any possible reason to retire her with anyone but the one who held the closest bond with her .
that's the best outcome for dog and handler , don'cha think ?
Simply unbelievable. It has to be extremely frustrating at best. One has to question the thought process of the decision makers. When will people finally take into consideration, peoples feelings and the concept of doing what is fundamentally in the best interest to those involved, instead of just doing what they are "required" to do. Best of luck to you and Fama. You certainly both deserve a lot more than the senseless slap in the face you got.
Unbelievable but sadly not surprising. I hope you can find her because I don't have a good feeling for her chances with anyone else. i just hope I'm wrong.
David, I'm so sorry. It's really horrid how uncaring and idiotic the army can be. But, how's the book coming?
That's just unbelievable, especially in light of all of the recent "War Dog" articles that have been popping up on Yahoo! news and other sites. In almost every article I have seen they mention how these dogs who serve our country in the military are being allowed to retire with their handlers who have spent so much time together.
To separate a team like you and Fama is just beyond unconscionable.
Also, David have you tried telling your story to the media? Local news, websites, Facebook, etc.? I have read some pretty amazing stories recently that were thanks in large part to the current power of social media.
I don't know if it was some person in the military red tape department that saw an application and rubber stamped it or not... but calling some attention to the situation might help you at least track Fama down.
David have you checked out this page? I think they are using photos of you and Fama, but the page says that Fama was retired in 2010 and adopted by a person in Houston, Bobbie Miller.
