So today we went to a really bieg park in here, its been raining a lot so a part is like a little lake, since havanna is in love with swimming and water she was running like a maniac going in and out of the water, chasing all the other dogs and not bullying anyone (she is very bully with all dogs, i guess because sookie is dominant to havanna).
All was going pretty good we meet a lot of nice people and their dogs.
A friend of mine went with her two border collies, the female doesnt like other dogs so one growl to my girls and that was all for the peace.
All way fine the dogs were running again and the terror. The borders were running and my girls too and buum Havanna crashed to the female border collie, Sookie and the male jumped like deers BTW. Suddenly the female grwoled ant attacked Havanna, to my surpriese Havanna stood there, growling back and getting "bigger", so before anithing else happened i stepped between the two dogs and give my killer stare until the female went away.
I was really proud of my girl she did not attack and waited for me to step in...she was moving her ears toward me... i think she was waiting for any command from me....
Only a scratch on the nose, a bit bloody but then she was like nothing happens and pulling me toward the water agian.... but we came home to clean the wound.
Just wanted to share the proud i feel with my "fighting breed", and well just to say that is the way you breed them, its how they develop them. Happy Sunday everyone!

Glad things ended well for you.
FWIW, crashing into another dog is kinda rude in dog behavior. I'm not surprised the BC was upset - as a breed they tend to be very aware of their surrounding and appreciate a bit of a space bubble. Whereas dogs like retrievers and bully breeds tend to have more of an "in your face" play style. The two often don't mix well. Just something to keep in mind for next time!

I totally know what you mean. Carlin generally gets along really well with spitz type dogs and other herding breeds, but takes great offense to the play style of labs and pits.

Oh im sorry if you get me wrong, Havanna and sookie were running togheter and the two borders were running apart, on the run the four colide, Havanna was looking at Sookie and the two border were looking into each other not at my girls.
They werte playing in couples not the four thougheter.
Actually Havanna in the first growl of kira (the female border) turn around and go away to play with some other dogs.

Dog parks are an accident waiting to happen!!
To many inexperienced people that have no clue what to do in the instance a real dog fight breaks out.
Those that say their dog gets along with all other dogs will change their mind the first time they see a real dog fight and not just growls and being pushy.
Dogs are pack animals and will sort out who's in charge of "the pack".
With many dogs that could be as easy as the simple growl. Then they run into a serious dog that knows it's in charge and more then willing to show it.
I don't mean to be a nay sayer but this is the reality of dogs meeting other dog. They're DOGS!

I totally agree but unfortunately people will continue to go to dog parks because "it will never happen to them." And, for their dogs sakes, I hope it never does.

Who here has broken up (or just seen) a serious dog fight at an off-leash venue? The blood, the screaming, the injured humans who tried to break it up, and the terrible wounds inflicted on dogs?
I already know that many of us have, and they are the ones trying to say what a bad idea off-leash dog parks are.
They work out nicely .... until they don't.
I don't care if my control of my dogs is 100%, and I don't care if my dogs are models of canine manners. It makes no difference at all, none at all, because I have no guarantee about any of the OTHER dogs and owners.
I have actually heard of completely brainless owners bringing in their dog with a toy or a bone. But it doesn't require that level of stupidity (or even close) to allow a serious dog-fight to break out.
And one attack can be all it takes to change one of my dogs' personality forever.
Ed speaks here about how to make dog parks safer. These suggestions are not at all commonly in place. http://leerburg.com/dogparks.htm
Ed starts out at the top with "I want to go on record as saying that the concept of ”Dog Parks” was well intended but a bad idea, especially when dogs are allowed to run off-leash. "
I agree completely. There's a whole lot of agreement on this among experienced dog people.
I know it sounds like sermonizing. but as Bob said, it's just reality.
I'm filled with relief for Milanka and her dog. But I would breathe a sigh of relief and consider it as getting off with a very light warning.

I know what you mean, i´ve already on the blood side of breaking two dogs fighting, blood one stupid person kicking the other dog and stuff, but i do know that i have a dog that need to meet new dogs, and need to go out a lot. Havanna is a bless, but she is a pitbull and ive seen "the" killer face one or twice, she never had bite anyone or no dog and i inted to stay there, but she is a very impulsive dog and getting her appart of other dogs is a bad idea (at least on my mind). We now only go to the park once or twice a week and only stay if we dont see the bad apples in there, The case with yesterday is a bit different when she and sookie are on water they dont care for other dogs.
And Sookie is in forever rehab of socialization so we (my sis and i) try to take her everywhere, with every dog we can, with the proper ask before letting her meet the other dog, and every situation for her to become more confident with herself
I do know the human stupidity aroud dogs very well and thats why we stopped going to the park, way to many irresponsible persons with stong breeds.
