It's come up in less than 24 hours. It feels hard and seems to be weeping some although it's close enough to his mouth that I can't tell if it's just drool. He has no other lumps or pimples on his jaw or in his mouth.
Any ideas on what it is? The asymmetry has me kind of concerned although I'm thinking more of an abscess type lump because of how fast it came up.
Think it can wait a few days to see if it comes down on it's own? It's in a tricky position to try and do anything with.

Oh gosh .... I don't know about waiting. I too would be thinking abscess (but I'm no health professional), but weeping, and really big really fast -- seems like it might be a pretty aggressive infection. What if it's a dental abscess .... if that shows up as sudden swelling on the face, I think it's a "need treatment now" situation.

No breathing problems, right? Not like an allergic reaction?
Let me dig up some reading material.

I have bees visit my yard that he might have gotten stung by. They are very non-agressive but Tanner can be nosy. He got Benadryl with his dinner and I'll take him to the vet in the morning if it hasn't shrunk by a lot.
The rest of his face is normal size. It's just that one lump that's different.
Just got back from the vet and he said it's an abscess. He actually squeezed a little bit of pus out of it while earlier all I'd gotten was blood so it's good that I went.
Tanner now has a week of antibiotics and a growth removal surgery date. If it goes right down he said to just call and cancel the surgery.
He thinks that it's a cyst that got infected. He was VERY skeptical when I told him that I checked my dog's mouth regularly. These guys aren't my favorite vet but they're cheap and competent.
