Amber had about a week of bedrest and I 've been doing gentle walks, decided to ramp it up today and did a quarter of our normal fetch throws and the leg is bothering her again. This time when she tried to jump up it was more than just a single yelp and then she was panicking when I was trying to get her to lie down. So it appears this is more than a slight injury AND she handles pain like a thoroughbred ( meaning not well). Still can't tell is this is hip/stifle. Arghhhhhh...
My animals are not "like" family, they ARE family.
Oh, Jodi, I'm so very sorry to hear this. My heart is breaking for you. I know you're going through a terrible time right now, but maybe, when you feel you can, you'll let us know what this turned out to be.

That's what I meant too. I'm sorry to have included a blunt question like that in what was meant (whole-heartedly) to be a message of support, caring, and empathy.
What a shock.
But you also have something so important to hug to your chest ..... Amber never had insecurity or aloneness, and she always had a dependable pack leader.
This is always my goal, and to me it's so very honorable: to give a secure and fulfilled life to the animals we are responsible for.
A goal you achieved, and then some.
I'm so sorry about your crushing pain. But Amber has been released.
ETA
I wish words could help.
