Finally we felt comfortable enough to take Saber to the ranch where he'd have more room to chase the ball and play fetch. He did so well staying focused and obedient. This short video clip is of Adam throwing the ball to Saber. http://instagram.com/p/l8UH9hk3ta/
Sidney puts Saber in Down and then the child who's turn it is to throw is allowed to have the ball. Saber returns the ball to Sidney and Outs on command. He's been doing SO good with it. You can hear but not see the other kids cheering from about ten feet back where they won't be too distracting or in the way. This has turned into a fun game for everyone AND good exercise for Saber (both mental and physical because he really has to stay focused in Down when he really WANTS the ball. LOL!)
He's coming along well isn't he? Still not off leash when outside but off leash in the house with me at night when the kids have gone to bed and I'm working in the living room or kitchen.
PROGRESS!

I agree you are making good progress. He seems to be fitting into your family nicely. He's clearly a dog who thrives on having structure in his life, getting plenty of exercise, and positive attention from his human family members. I'm so glad he's gotten a chance at a great life with you.
Yeah, I don't have a smart phone, either, but I just clicked the link and watched the video right here on my trusty desktop computer (if anybody remembers those).
Huh weird - I wonder if you have a pop up blocker that is preventing it - the video comes up as a kind of window above the instagram page. Maybe a pop up blocker killed it. :-(

Thank you! He's come a long way in a month, that's for sure. I feel fortunate to have him every day.
Today we took him tot he vet for a check and she was so impressed with his overall health, attitude and demeanor. Great to hear from an outside source and not that I'm completely biased. ;-)
