Been quite a while since I've posted. Hope everyone is doing O.K. It's been an eventful (and not in a good way) few months. I've had some major health and personal issues, which luckily are slowly being resolved.
Brago had to have an emergency surgery back in January after EATING A 16' tracking line! Not a used one with possible treat scent on it either. This was brand new, still in the plastic package. ????????? Dogz iz weird. At any rate 2500 bucks had to be come up with at 10 o'clock at night before the surgeon would even come in, and THAT was fun, Itelluwhut. At any rate, he removed about 10 feet of it from his stomach and was able to "milk" the remainder out of his guts, so he did not have to cut into his intestines. He is recovered mostly, but the surgeon went ahead and did a gastropexy on him while he was at it. I'm not sure that he hasn't got some adhesions or is just uncomfortable with the pexy, because he is NOT the same dog physically as he was. At first after the initial recovery, he seemed fine, but now I'm noticing a reluctance to jump and he gets bitchy when the other dogs jostle him, which he never did before.
At any rate it's just been one thing after another; but as things seem to be normalizing somewhat (KNOCK WOOD) hopefully I can get to be a regular visitor again. I've missed you guys!
We've missed you, too, Becky. It's good to hear from you!
Wow, what a story about Brago eating the line. They sure do keep us on our toes. What does your vet say about his apparent discomfort? Maybe (hopefully) he just needs a bit more time for a full recovery. Two months or so after major surgery isn't a real long time. I've never had a dog have a gastropexy, but I've always wondered if they feel different inside somehow.
I hope your own personal journey continues to go well, and that we'll see you around once in a while.
