Been real busy and haven't been on lately. Here's an update.
Logan has gotten fat since being de-balled, and his coat is heavy and won't shed like it used to. Idk what to do about his coat, its gotten softer...typical neutered coat, yuck..but otherwise perfectly healthy and shiny. I've cut back on his food and doing more short duration high intensity exercise. His rear bothers him a lot sometimes and he can't jog as far by my bike, but sprinting doesn't aggravate it as much.
I've been on a 80% raw diet these days and since seeing me eat all of these raw veggies, tho mostly smoothies, he is mimicking me now. He will eat anything I am having, its hilarious. He doesn't even like it, he just does it because I am, I swear! He will eat celery, cucumbers, salad...even pineapple! I'll make a video soon.

Is he finally taking it easy or just getting fat while staying crazy?
Maybe he thinks you're torturing yourself with veggies and is trying to keep your morale up

Oh he's still crazy, its like his mind is still quite insane even though his body isn't as spry as it used to be. Maybe if I give him veggies, he won't eat pine cones?
How's Duke?

Is Logan any easier to live with after his castration? Did you see any changes in his drive, or level of aggression?

Duke is actually house safe at the end of the day and spends select evenings sleeping on the bedroom floor I know at least part of it is due to discomfort, but I keep mixing up the joint cocktails to see what I can do.
We hit our first local swimming hole this weekend, can't use the river due to NUMEROUS sewer overflows contaminating it (our city is getting sued for poor management by a city downstream), but I found a runoff brook that should actually be safe (source above the treatment plants) he's getting the hang of it pretty fast and decided that bullfrogs are fun Hopefully a few weeks of this and we'll get some muscle back on his legs again.

Hi, Tresa. Did you have a really bad winter in your state like we did in mine? I'm wondering if Logan's weight gain might be partially due to a less-than-normal activity level over the past winter. And then there's the fact that he is a "mature" guy now. I think, with many dogs, as with many humans, our metabolism slows down and it gets harder to stay in shape as we get older......
I've noticed that there can be quite a difference in each dog's reaction to being neutered. My guy (also Logan) was neutered at 19 months, and I never noticed one iota of difference in him in any way whatsoever; but I know other people whose dogs have reacted with increased appetites, weight gain, and changes in energy levels, etc.
I'll be waiting for that video of Logan slurping down a vegetable smoothie.

Ugh, most reply somehow got erased....trynagain!
Betty, I think its more physical than mental but yeah he is a little less difficult to handle now. He has lost muscle mass and isn't as strong and I think its effecting his joints (he had a back problem since I got him, injured and emaciated). His mind seems the same, but physically he isn't. I can now have him off lead a lot more, like in the front yard which is nice. I have my lunch and he has his celery sticks LOL.
I have noticed his extra weight he carries all underneath, like a fat cat, not on his sides like a fat lab or cocker spaniel.
Kristin, that's exactly how it is with Logan, his discomfort has made him easier to manage. I wish Logan liked to swim.
Cheri, we had a harsh winter (for VA anyhow) and we spent a lot more time on walks and stuff. We had just about every field/park to ourselves! He got a lot of off lead running in the snow. I'm hoping by doing more short sprints with him rather than jogging, that he'll build some of it back.

His level of "discomfort" is probably the same, it's just he doesn't have the testosterone telling him to ignore pain, ladies could be waiting, there are things to conquer etc.
Many clients reported a favorable change for day to day living.
