can anyone give me an idea what i should do about my gsd pup and her stool.. i have her on a premium dog food, flint river ranch adult/puppy food.. it makes her coat shine like nothing i've ever seen and she has all the energy in the world but her stool is consistently a pudding consistency. i have given her body enough time to adapt to the food but it is still the same and not changing any. is there something i can add to her diet to help her out or anything else i can do with out having to change foods on her??
thanks a bunch for any help
Do you mean just squishy remains, or more liquid? I have noticed with FRR that the feces are not really ever "firm" and that is due to the fact that it is devoid of the nasty stuff that most of the premium commercial dogs foods have to make the firm stools. If your dog is having the runs or making puddles then I would talk to your vet. You have been on this for more than a few weeks if I remember correctly.

My female GSD was experiencing "cow-pie" stools and I too worried that it was her diet. When it persisted I took her to the vet for an exam and it turned out that she had a simple case of gastritis.A course of antibiotics did the trick.
The vet said gastritis is not uncommon in GSD's, and I definately agree that you should have your dog seen by a vet.
No one ever said life was supposed to be easy, life is what you make of it!!
thankyou thankyou thankyou for your responses. yes i have had her on this for more than a couple of weeks and like i said she shines like i have never seen a dogs coat shine. but the pudding is something i'm not exactly comfortable with. she shows no signs of sickness except for the stool and yes it is just like a thick chocolate pudding, (to be more graphic)
i would not say liquid exactly, not runny like water. more exact description would be the pudding. i will be amking an appointment for her tommorrow then. the FRR distrributor that i use said that the food may be to rich for her system so who knows. i guess i will find out. thanks again
