Daniel.P.Hughes Webboard User Reg: 02-06-2010 Posts: 180 Loc: Offline	To all you GSD owners when not training and the dog is hanging out (my dog is always training really and has some way of me correcting or handling IE e-collar or just having toys on me etc); what do you guys use or favor for a collar? Back in the day I used fur saver collar but they are a choke collar so is it safe for just running around through woods and stuff or do you guys just use a flat collar? Part of me also can't stand a flat collar on a gsd cause of the hair that is why I ask. thanks https://www.instagram.com/danielgsdhp/

They also have all their tags ( ID, rabies, license) on them. Any other collar (prong,e-collar) is additional & worn over that collar. I start pup on flat collars & then at about 6 months the switch to a fur saver. MY DOGS...MY RULES

Bob Scott Moderator Reg: 06-14-2002 Posts: 7417 Loc: St. Louis Mo Offline	I used a flat leather collar for everything on my short coated GSD and a round leather collar for everything on my heavy coated, long hair GSD. As Anne said, all tags were on them all the time other then at Schutzhund training then both wore flat leather collars. Occasionally a fur saver when taking them for a walk but it was always on a dead link. The fur savers can sometimes not release when used as a training collar because of the large links. old dogs LOVE to learn new tricks
