When do you think I will be able to transition to using "Yes" and could you use both at first or is their a time period in switching? Do I have to charge the word "Yes" if I decide to use it like when I charge the clicker? Can I switch back and forth? Sean

After that the transition is simply loading the second marker just as you did the first. It will go faster. Many dogs respond to both but I prefer to use the verbal marker. "FOR ME" it's simpler then carrying around the clicker. At the same time if your going to mark a behavior you should be ready to reward that mark. When I can't reward that mark I just release the dog with a "OK" and praise. You still should NEVER totally eliminate the marker and reward even if the dog is well trained. They should always believe obeying your commands result in something good happening. That's where the random reward is your goal. old dogs LOVE to learn new tricks
