Great article! Thanks for sharing, Lori. It's really amazing what dogs are capable of and more amazing how much they are still underestimated by lots of people.
I guess I'll join the researchers and try the "Do as I do" - game too.

"Monkey See / Monkey Do" & "Follow the Leader" definitely apply to DOGS as well -- If one of mine does something, then the other one immediately Investigates & Copies that behavior, LOL
That's really funny. When I train with my Lab-MIx and Socks, the Pit is near, she observes everything and follows every command too, although she doesn't get rewarded, Of course these are all exercises which I trained with her too, it's just not her tjurn.
But I wonder what they will do, if they have to copy something they haven't learned. Just learning by observing. Of course they will first have to learn to follow the command "Do it". I'm really curious if this will happen, just from observing.

Would my dogs recognize me when in camouflage? E.g. if I dressed up completly like a clown or a witch or .. or. Probably they would recognize me from my voice, my smell, some typical movements. But if I kept my mouth shut, covered in a thick cloud of a for them unfamiliar perfum and sat there motionless??
Of course I will not try it, but I really wonder awfully.
It's clear your dog is remembering a lot more than you, don't feel upset, but you will always be the most unforgettable piece of all their memories.

Holy smoke you're scaring me! I'd love to see the different possible reactions under scientifically monitored studies. I'd not like to be mistaken as a big toy!

Right, we can not know, what a dog will think in such a situation. and the figuring out, Bob mentions, can happen in very different and unpredictable ways. Figure!!!
