It's to easy to throw everything out of balance. Everyone wants to see their puppy grow up to fast. I don't even feed puppy food after 6 months old. To fast growth produces more problems that benifits. old dogs LOVE to learn new tricks

To fast growth produces more problems that benifits I thought that the idea of puppy food (large breed at least) was designed to slow down your puppy's growth by limiting protien/calories etc. Wouldnt feeding normal adult kibble in the first 12 months increase the growth of the pup? I feed my pup large breed puppy kibble up to at least 12 months. Am i wrong in doing this?

I know I never had either of my GSD pups on puppy blends. A good adult maintenance brand (I like Nutro) is nutritious enough for a puppy to reach it's normal GENETIC potential. Think some of the concerns of the puppy mixes is they are so rich, they make the pup grow outside of the genetic design for the dog, and that's what can cause problems. Intelligent dogs rarely want to please people whom they do not respect --- W.R. Koehler
