Off leash four year old lab/pit mix. Anytime we do any work, tug play, or even a light jog he starts panting loud and deep and will even begins throwing up the water he drinks.
Activity time is usually for sessions no longer than 15 mins. Weight is under control and getting plenty of water. He is highly tug driven and enjoys the bite, he just gets gassed out so fast and we have to call it.
Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.

Assuming it's not a zillion degrees hot where you live, he should see the Vet for a thorough work-up that includes a blood test for Anemia, among other things which cause unexplained exhaustion in a youngish dog, IMHO.
ETA: He is heartworm Negative, right?

If I were in your shoes, I would get my dog in for a thorough vet check ASAP. In addition to what Candi mentioned, cardiac problems, or many other things, can cause the symptoms you mention. Best of luck to you and your dog.

It is in fact a zillion degrees, I live in central Florida. I agree, vet is probably the correct step. Was hoping most might think it was a conditioning issue.

So glad to hear back from you, Brandon -- I would get him into the Vet on an EMERGENCY basis, Seriously ... Cardiac conditions, including heavy Heartworm infestation, can go very BAD really Fast !!! Something else, such as Severe Anemia for example, is also a matter for Urgent Medical intervention /// A timely Vet visit could SAVE your dog's LIFE.

Is he coughing with the exercise? That can be one sign of Heartworm.

We also live in the hot and somewhat humid zone (south-central texas). Although I have been working on conditioning our 1.5 yr old GSD Greta to the summer heat, she hasn't gotten to the point where she is throwing up water. I have to agree that a trip to the vet would be a good move.
Not sure if you noted, but how long have you had your dog? Has he shown signs of this before? Did you recently relocate to Florida or is he from there? Just wondering what the dog's environment has been up to this point. It does take a while to acclimate to the heat.
I often have a hard time following my own advice, but I would try not to jump to any worst case conclusions until you see the vet and rule out basic things.

I have a neighbour who had two Filas Brasileiros. Unfortunately one of them had the same symptoms as you describe. The neighbor waited too long with consulting a Vet. He had heartworm and anemia. But they couldn't help him any more and had to euthanize him. This is really emergency.
I'm sorry, I don't want to scare you. But it is better to consult the Vet once too often and see it was unnecessary, than the other way round. Don't wait, please.
I hope we will soon hear happier messages from you. Good luck!
