I have been struggling with a bit this past year.
My challenging pup, Sasha is a puppymill girl.
After working with her for over a year, I happened to see her parents on kijiji.
She came from a puppymill in Steinbach manitoba, not a man in La Broquie, think I spelt that wrong.
He doesn't own the parents, but is a part of the puppymill, who now is pumping out dozens of puppies.
So no wonder she is skittish, shut down when not training, defecating in fear still, and antisocial.
I am looking for a rescue sanctuary for her, to live her forever life. I will continue to pay for her yearly vaccinations, hopefully to help whatever rescue takes her on. I am researching 2 prospective ones.
Unfortunately due to our wildlife and our noisy lifestyle, she will never thrive here, living with the ghosts in her head.
I swear my luck is bloody fn rotten.
That and my osteoarthritis in my spine requires surgery, that I am not willing to do. At least I have carving. What's a woman have to do to get a foot warmer companion dog!
Finn is thriving in Ontario, loving the lack of snow and cold, so glad to see him happy, and my troublesome sheepdog is back with the breeder, and they are working on finding him a quiet home.
Poor Sasha though. Hopefully I can find her somewhere where she can feel safe, and learn through other dogs perhaps that life is awesome.

Get the surgery! I fought my hips for years and now that they are fixed I deeply regret not having them fixed sooner- all those years I missed doing the thing I love! You can never get that time back!

I placed her with a retired man in town him and his wife came to see her, and they all clicked enough that Sasha didn't hide. They know her, and her issues, and I let them take her on a trial basis. Less traumatic than flying south.
So far so good, didn't even crap in their truck on the way to town. Still self mutilating on her legs, that had disappeared months ago, anx reared its ugly head again, but not hiding in the crate over there.
They are experienced in anxiety, had a 150lb mastiff with horrible seperation anxiety yrs ago. If all goes well, I will pay for her next vetting and let them keep her. They lead a quiet life, so much better than my loud house. I think her husband had an eye on her since she was a baby.
At least we will still get to visit after she settles.
The surgery would mean I go south for 6 weeks. I am not willing to leave my home that long. Maybe when the kids are older.i prefer the pain to staying with family, anyday!
I never stop from pain, just slower, and more careful. Still cut wood on weekends, and still take my kid for walks daily with a neighbor. Certified bear guard now lol. Surgery doesn't stop the disease sadly.
Spring is sadly almost here. Without a dog to take care of, I can stockpile my polar bear carves.
Funny how the simple scraping up wood shavings had Sasha pissing in fear.. here's to hoping she flourishes there.

Oh wow, what an ordeal! I'm glad that there seems to be a happy ending for Sasha and hoping for you too soon. I haven't posted in a while, I have an injury and have been out of dog training for a few months (ugh!). Managing the bored dog craziness without training isn't easy and frustrating because there was so much I wanted to accomplish. Luckily they entertain each other faily well playing in the backyard being that they are so well matched in temperament and energy level.

Sometimes it pays to have 2 eh!
I just got my new phone, my phone exploded and caught fire over a week ago, almost had a house fire. Good thing I am a night owl!
She still exhibits anxiety, chewing on her legs etc, but so far they have accomplished getting her used to the truck. She still poops in it, but not as much.
They all seem happy, so I am satisfied!
