well i used the advice form my last post for over a week now. no distractions and really focusing on her grip. holding a little tension in the pause, pulling the pause up to my chest. the dog is doing great no chewing what so ever. so tonight i decided to go with the right hand under the chin open palm and stroke the nose and praise just like in the video. and at first a nice calm hold, then she started to chew, she chewed the tug to the front of her mouth then stopped chewing and held again. even with the lite rappings on the nose she still continued to do it. it looks like she almost does it out of discomfort. maybe the tug is to big? or genetics!? and once at the front of her mouth she holds, can't even rip the tug out. any ideas!
oh and i forgot to mention, she chews on the circle run, and i make sure i'm not pulling her, lose leash, but she dosen't chew on the run to the truck off the field.

Don's reply - I think you are going too fast, back up stay with the strong solid bite for a week or two. Praise her when she on the bite, when you decide to add a little stress by placing your right hand under the chin, praise her while she still holding tight and stop on that strong note, don't wait until she starts showing signs of stress (chewing ) to question the results.
If the prasing doesn't add time before she start chewing, go slower here. Lift her let her pull it away from you and start her sleeve carry from here. Quit on a high note. You are moving too fast and not stoppig before she is stressed.
Thats my scoop on this problem, does anybody else have some insight. That we both can learn from.
I like to know what else can be done to enhance this puppy/dogs work at this stage of training?
Which seems like the middle of basic prey work almost time for an helper. Right?
