Need help with a problem that just started yesterday afternoon. She was doing really good on a tease rag, she still goes nuts over the rag. When working with a tug, she bites hard but will not pull on it. She walks into me and shakes her head. When I try to play tug of war with her she just walks into me shaking her head. She has a full calm bite, and I can pick her up. Once I praise and let go she takes about five steps and drops the tug and tries to get me to play keep-way.
Have I done something to cause this? Or am I not doing this right?
PS. She is also doing this with the tease rag.
FYI= age is 10mth

How are you holding the rag? One hand, two? She should bite in the middle while you hold the ends giving her less of a chance to start thrashing it. Reward her with soothing calm praise when she is calm. If she starts shaking gently tell her no, and when she stops give her calm praise again. You have to tell her what you like and what you don't like. My puppies did the same thing and I taught them to have calm full grips. The other thing you might try is putting her leash on and running her a little bit immediately after the bite. Circle her to you and play tug again. Hope this helps.
Something else I just thought of, you could try putting her on a tie out, making sure she is at the end when you reward her with a bite. This way she can't walk into you, and the only place to go is if she tugs and pulls backwards. Just a thought.
