If anyone is seriously interested in going to the Middle East as part of a private security company I strongly suggest they look around. Jobs like this as a detector dog handler can be had in much safer locations like Kuwait for closer to $200k. Heck, the guy here in Uzbekistan who drives the feces pumping truck on base makes $80k and he doesn't even have to handle the hose.
I don't think Brian was trying to sound mercenary, I'm sure both of you guys are dedicated and patriotic. I retired a few years ago and tried to re enlist to help get rid of these monsters. I'm still looking for someway to help out now.
Thank you both for allowing my kids to sleep safe tonight
dennis, my son is in iraq right now, too. know what i said to him when he re-enlisted this last time? "if i were single, in my twenties and no kids like you, i'd be over there right along side of you. but i'm 50, married, fat and a grandma 2X, so i'll just have to do what i can to help out..........keep working and paying my taxes so uncle sam will have the funds to keep our forces the best equiped in the world." somebody's got to pay the bills and even though there's not much glory in it......its what i can do.
if there are no dogs in heaven, then when i die i want to go where they went. ---will rogers
sounds intresting!
will they employ some one from israel?!
what do you think?
this is what i do for a living in the past few years in the same field over at the GAZA strip in israel...
thanks for your answer...

they gave me a call, that's after I told them all I had for handler training is that I trained my GSD to find the TV remote. I'm a wannabe, I was hopeing they had a training program, they do, but not for newbies
I didn't think personal attacks were allowed on this board and shame on a military person like you for doing it. You should be a bit more professional.
I've been with the USAF for 15 years now. I'm currently deployed to Uzbekistan. I fly into Aghanistan providing security for C-130's at unsecured landing strips where any insurgent can take pot shots at you with rockets and small arms...and yes, I've been shot at. This job was voluntary for me; I could've chosen to stay in the rear with the aircraft at their staging point. We do also fly missions to other countries including Irag and since you've been there you know how much fun that is.
I was a bomb dog handler up until 2 years ago. I volunteered to be part of Desert Shield/Desert Storm and deployed to Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. I know what it's like to be in MOPP4 with SCUDs incoming and the Patriot missle batteries going off. I was in Saudi during the Khobar tower bombings...that was a voluntary deployment.
You can take your "sound like a big PUS##" and shove it. I've paid my dues and will continue to do so. I fight so that the people who stay behind can have the freedoms given them by the U.S. Constitution. One of those freedoms is the freedom of speech. Anyone can offer their opinion and I gave mine...you have no right to judge me for that.
Brian, get some thicker skin. I don't know you so it is not personal. Just standing up for what I believe, and you post lead me to think your personal values are taking the short cut in life and avoiding the challenge/war. If what you say is true about your military service, you have done you part and should be proud.
