I have a friend who recently purchased an expensive puppy from a local breeder (I guess they are called Connie Corsos or Italian Mastiffs). The family has 3 small children and he wanted a dog for protection but that would also be safe around his kids. I tried to talk him into a GSD but his wife didn't want to deal with a dog that sheds.
My question is does anyone know anything about this type of dog or have any experience with them?

Italian Mastiff or Cane Corso's is what they are known as..also those dogs still shed. They have little prickly hairs when they shed. Where did they get this pup are where is the breeder located? I know a Cane Corso breeder, he is training his for SchH.
Thanks for the reply. The breeder he got his dog from is in Cedaredge, CO. The breeder said that these dogs are rare in the US and the pup's parents were imported from Italy. His pup is about 7 months old now and seems nice to me (although she is very stubborn).
I had never heard of these dogs and was just curious about the breed temperament etc...

I only have experience with two of them. Other than a slight dominance issue they went along with the program. I was told that they could have hip problems
