About how much can you expect to pay for a working line Dobermann. I know this can vary but in general.
I bought mine for only 150 ( i know this is really cheap) and Im pretty sure he is not from a working line. When I bought him the only thing I knew where just general breed
characteristics. and nothing about shutzhund, tracking, protection, SAR, etc.... He has gotten me motivated to get into more
areas then I had expected and have started to read and am planning to attend the Tom Rose School here soon. Thanks for
any help.
If you know everything you cant possibly learn something new.
Don't worry about what you paid for your dog. Take the dog as far as it will go and be proud he is your best friend. I don't put much weight in price, as value is all perception. Good luck with your dog.
IMO, I don't put much stock in money. I've seen people pay a bunch of money for a pile of sh&^. Contra, I have a guy in my club that rescued a GSDx (kinda looks like an Austrailian Kelpie (doesn't he Ikor?)) for $200.00 and he is probably the best obedience dog in the club, as well as a pretty good protection and tracking phase dog. Already has his I and will surely get his II and III before long. So I guess what I'm saying is that $$ spent sometimes do not have any direct correlation to the dog's performance. It's the teamwork, the consistency, effort expended as much as the $$'s.

Yes, he does somewhat resemble a Kelpie...very nice little dog. In addition, when he got him, this dog would roll over and piss in the air if a dominant stranger approached. (No, he didn't get him for schutzhund work...the boy did not even know what Schutzhund was when he rescued the dog.)
This guy has done a magnificent job with a dog that most of us would never have looked at twice. Cost is no guarantee of quality...but...while you CAN get "nothing for something", it is pretty rare to get "something for nothing"...rare enough that most of us remember the very few times we have ever been able to do it.
You certainly can overpay for a dog...or most anything else...but really good prospects are so few and far between that you should be VERY careful of deliberately shopping in the "bargain basement".
