Whats the deal with people crossing working line dogs with American show dogs? Cara dobes seem to have started it but I have noticed some other kennels are doing it too. Talk about a good way to ruin the breed.
uuummm, $$$$$ and buyers who don't know any better? As they say, sucker born every min. Actually surprised if it's just now happening with dobes, been going on a long time with the shepherds.
I don't see what the big deal is if both sire and dam satisfy the breed standard including both conformation and temperment. In fact, breeders that have bred out either temperment or conformational traits are the ones that are creating the problem of division in the breed.

It is hard enough to breed good working dogs from pure working stock, why water down the lines with some weak dogs that lack any workng temperament.
I guess you can give them some credit, but not much. What is their goal- to jazz up their crap pet/show dogs, or water down the abilities of a good working line? Either way, they're messing up IMNSHO.
Dobes do not have the division that GSD do(there is still showlines), many working dobes are also good confirmation dogs. HOWEVER, like GSD there is a big difference between a American dog, and a serious working dog.
I have been thinking, and maybes its because SchH has become En Vogue, and these breeders were so attached to there lines they didn't want to start over(which they should have).
