I think that the UDC has lost it's way and now is no longer a relevant working dobermann club. The UDC in my opinion could have really promoted the dobermann as working dog. From what I can see it has been taken over show people who peddle the "Total Dobermann" crap. I see that the majority of real working dobermann people are not members of the UDC and do not enter their dogs in any of their events.
Does anyone see the SDA (Sport Dobermann Alliance) taking a major role in supporting the attempts of the dedicated working dobermann people in the future? I think there is some great working dobe lines in the States and their needs to be some kind of forum/club for these people and their dogs to get together and go on with their dogs and trial with them.
I agree, I'm not knocking the UDC so for all the members, don't take it personally but something has lacked. I'm not an expert BUT it seems they cut a few corners and should've been more like SDA when they made the split.
The time is now, the internet I know has helped alot more than before. Everyone has can easily make contacts and acquire more resources.
I feel like it wouldn't take a 100 years to achieve this, I can't help but feel it's a realistic goal. 20 years ago these dogs were alot more legit than now on average. Of course I've heard from the real veterans out there they lost their touch in the early 70s. What really hurts I hear is their ability to score points in sport, it's much harder to train them compared to the Shepherd breeds when it comes to outing, etc., I've been told.
I think MANY people would buy this breed is they had more assurance that it would be a worthy choice like before.
The UDC has a very bad relationship with the DV and will find it nearly impossible to get their support. The majority of UDC people are show people who have taken over the club. Sure they have their token trial and ztp's but this is little more than a token. Just look and see how many dogs enter the events. All the real working people are not members of the UDC. You will find them at USA and DVG clubs training their dogs.
