I have a 20 month old rottie who is very much still a puppy. Is that normal? I know that rotties take longer in general to mature than other breeds but I was wondering if someone could explain what are the behavioral changes that occur that indicate that the dog is mature?

20 months is still in the young range, but you already know that. Stop me if I'm wrong, but you are talking about that kinda goofy, energetic, unsure, pup stage right. No, really what do you see as puppy behavior that is bothering you. Most of what I described above will not go away for quite a while. If there are more specific things like nerve issues or physical issues you should detail them. I would call 30 months about adult time for a Rottenwhiner. I have a friend that breeds these monsters.
Both my two males were matured by time they were 20 mo. old.Dont get me wrong though, there are times when they play that they acted like they were puppies! How does your rottie act or respond when you are training? How is his attention span? Some rotties are slower to mature but by 24mo. he should be all done with the puppy stage. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/tongue.gif" alt="" />
my uncle has a 5yr old rottie. if he is not working, he is goofy as hell, i mean you couldnt even tell he was his age. ive seen very old rotties that still liked to act like puppies, and thats part of why i love them so much, when they're working, thats what they are doing. but otherwise they're just plain funny! that shouldnt, and probably wont go away. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif" alt="" />
