Does anyone have any progeny from this dog? What does he produce? Any health problems? What lines might be the best cross for him? What are his faults that need to be improved? What does he bring to the table? TIA

I liked Robby's looks - so I looked him up at the Nationals last year in Alabama. Sorry - if I cannot look a dog in the eyes or touch it even if it comes up to me - it is too extreme. IMHO there is a very fine line between this type of dominance and inappropriate aggression or even nerve issues...some people like this type of dog - but I do not want to be responsible for creating any dog whose genetics are that stacked to be a liability...he may produce great, I don't know - but I won't take a chance on that kind of behavior. There are dogs around with just as nice looks, working ability and more balanced temperments.

Robby is a very nice dog. He can be aggresive when doing bitework, but only if you make him. His grip is perfect, full, hard and calm. He is very social on occasions that I have encountered with him.
Overall, he is a large solid black male with good drives. He can get a score of 270 just about anywhere they trial.

I was VERY interested in him as a possible breeding prospect. I had talked to someone who was, and is, very high on the dog, but had never seen him. I looked him up at the Nationals. His owner took him out of the crate, and let him wander about the immediate grassy area by the car. I was told NOT to try to touch him or to look directly at him. This is a heads up to me that there is a social problem.
I understand he is very high drive and had to be retrained and that accounted for his somewhat flat performance at the Nationals. I came away still liking the LOOKS of the dog - but with questions about his temperment. I can accept the flat performance due to control issues. So, I decided to wait to see how his pups turn out before considering him for breeding. I really did like his looks but there is more to a stud dog than looks...I hope he does produce well!

Friend of mine knows Robby quite well as does her helper. He is very clear headed and sound in temperament. She had a litter by him 11 months ago with all puppies having excellent outgoing temperaments. I saw two of these pups at 81/2 months of age. They were both pushy and forward with 100% sound nerves. When she bred her bitch to Robby she commented to me on how easy Robby was to breed. He had no problems with her, a stranger, being right in his face, helping with his positioning, etc. Robby is social and approachable.

That is good to hear! I really liked the dog on paper and photos before I met him, and liked his looks as well...maybe it was a training issue to keep him focused or something that the owner told me not to touch him I will keep him on my "think about him again next breeding" list for the future!

I have been directly around Robby a number of times. I handled him stacking him for pictures, groping his legs and towering over him while setting him up, handled him during the breeding touching/grabbing him everywhere (a number of other stud dogs I have encountered were NOT comfortable with this like Robby was!). Not even once was I concerned. Robby is aloof, but perfectly stable. Then I also had a litter of 5 very environmentally sound and stable nerved puppies out of him. One of the reasons I picked Robby was because his nerve is so good.

What is this dogs pedigree and where is he located? Does anyone have a link to the Web site that has his photos?
