What is the deal with the international recognition of each org's titles? I know the debate right now that the SV wants the US to only send 1 team to the WUSV. I am a member of the USA, and have traditionally considered the GSDCA to be an advocate of German "show" lines. Am I wrong?

I think that until quite recently (the creation of GSDCA-WDA), the GSDCA was an advocate only for AMERICAN lines.
Now the AKC--which, of course, oversees the GSDCA--is conducting a little flirtation with Schutzhund. I have heard rumors that they are about to officially recognize Schutzhund--although these are only rumors.
I have known folks who were early movers and shakers in GSDCA-WDA. The people I knew were all working dog people. I'm sure that some German show adherents were involved too, but there was certainly a strong working element from the very start. Part of this was no doubt due to the major problems that were occurring in USA at the time (the Paul Meloy scandal).

From the updated article on "Dog Organizations: Structure and Strife" by Fred Lanting:
"The United Schutzhund Clubs of America has been representing the US in international WUSV competitions with remarkable success (sometimes winning the event) since 1977, but failed to send a team shortly after the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks on America. The WDA, a subsidiary of the GSD Club of America (member of both AKC and WUSV), sent a team, with members placing 42nd, 46th, and 54th. Canada’s GSSCC team members placed 9th (Pat-John Brown), 32nd, and 59th.
The absence of a USA team, while understandable in the light of worries about safety and care of dogs, may have bolstered the GSDCA’s bargaining position as the breed representative in the U.S. The USA in its early years lost the opportunity to become the first (and voting) member of the WUSV; a few years later, the GSDCA jumped into that vacuum and has had the one-vote-per-country advantage ever since. The WUSV is a non-voting member, and the two U.S. clubs are being pressured to resolve the competitive situation soon, or else the WUSV will do so for them. That is, if they don’t decide on how to select one team to represent the country at the WUSV schutzhund championships, the WUSV will decide for them. It is likely that the GSDCA (the voting member and the oldest in membership) will be chosen.
Because the GSDCA refuses to accept the world Standard for the breed, does not educate its (AKC) judges toward conformity to it, and ignores suggestions to encourage responsible breeding in the areas of using only titled, radiographed-acceptable, minimum-age, and breed-surveyed dogs, as well as other areas, that would be a bad choice. Bad for the breed as well as the sport of dogs. "

Lets talk about the one team issue - the GSDCA has no interest in sending the best team, the GSDCA has one concern and that is its own agenda, the GSDCA has turned down:
1-running their own nationals and sending their team for a competition against the USA national team
2-this competition would have three judges on the field - one from USA - one from GSDCA and one from the SV,
3-The one team that would represent America would be picked from this event.
4- Whay does the GSDCA not want to do this?
a- Because they have second rate dogs in their events that cannot compete at a national level.
b- They have people running their program who have their head up their ass.
c- The GSDCA had dragged the breed down thoughout the history of its inseption in this country. When handlers can't cut it to get to Germany in USA or when they have been kicked out of USA - where do they go? GSDCA !!!
d- The GSDCA does not deserve to represent this breed anywhere. Let them stay with the AKC and run dogs to the left in a big circle - their dogs have allergies to jute
I hope everyone reading this asks themselves why the GSDCA is afraid to allow a fair competition amoung top teams from each organization be used to pick the team that represents this country.
It's pretty clear - they don't care if the AMERICANS put the best team on the field, they just care about their goofy organization and their low rider dogs that cannot do police work or good sport work. From what I heard their nationals had about 30 spectators - WOW !!!!

The only reason this has changed is because of Paul Meloy. WDA had during the end a lot of USA top people trying out. To say that the dogs are second class, not all. I think GSDCA mission is not in the right place,

The question I have is how could the WUSA allow GSDCA to become the gsd breed representive in America when the GSDCA won't adher to, nor enforce the International Breed Standard in this country?
At least the USA is attempting to follow breeding guidelines as per the SV...

GSDCA was first and the AKC frowns on sports that require biting. Basically the AKC is f$#$ed up and they are ruining every breed as far as I'm concered. From Toy Poodles to Mastiffs. They have no breeding programs for any dogs that im aware of, and they play lip server to temperment. All the care about is looks. The need to get some guts, make ZTP test for every breed, disallow breedering if people fail, and join the FCI.

Hey Ed, you wrote an article a while back supporting the WDA. Does this mean that you no longer do because of a change in leadership in USA?
To say that the dogs in the National are second class is not fair, and I don't think that saying such things is right as people get offended. I know you don't care, but there were three good strong dogs that made the team this year. These dogs are as strong as any of USA's top dogs.
I am not a supporter of WDA, nor am I even a member, just making a point. USA has many dogs that should not be in thier big events. They just show-up in numbers.

What about the title recognition? My understanding is that the SV will recognize and document a title awarded in the US by and SV Judge. If this is the case, what steps are being taken toward the recognition of USA judge issued titles.
I agree that the AKC has made great progress in eroding the quality of just about all of its represented breeds.
