Pretty much that is the long and short of it. Reading the July News Letter from USA and the SE web site this is the direction that USA wants to take. It has been implied that the SV/WUSV are also of the same view, but I have not read or heard anything solid that this will happen (except the USA Newsletter). While it has been implied by the SV (according to the newsletter) it was never stated what steps and when this will happen (SV no longer reconizing WDA) It also (USA Newletter) stated that the SV may not in the future acknowledge WDA or titles awarded by them, even by the SV judges. I was intrested in if anyone else knew anything else about this, and if USA will send a team only to the WUSV this year, as the one team issue has not been resloved, it would appear.
Hummmm, I wonder how much this has to do with the possibility of IPO rules being recognized by AKC (a vote that is to happen this fall as a part of its working dog program).
Even if the WUSV doesn't recognize SchH (read WUSV) titles, it is entirely possible that we will see IPO in the AKC, making it very urgent that USA move towards being THE GSD club in the eyes of the WUSV/SV.
If IPO is recognized by AKC it is a big step to squash the WDA also, whether or not the AKC even sees this from its bloated self important position who knows??
The proposed AKC Working Dog Sport (WDS), at the highest "Master" level I, II, and II, is virtually identical to VDH rules Schutzhund I, II, and III. It's not the same as FCI IPO.
Also, it's WDA that's been pushing AKC to adopt the WDS, and it's WDA's president who helped draft the WDS rules.
If anyone wants to read the AKC rules on this I have them scanned and on my web site. They can go and look at it.Its in the list of training articles on my web site.
Competition makes the world go around - this is not going to hurt anything.
Does IPO in the IPO not require a heeling pattern with a leash? The AKC's working progarm does at theat level/ It would appear that the rules are similar to the VDH rules. I am wrong?
Kevin, would it be right in say ing then, that this fall the AKC will be voting on holding IPO trials?
Lets say that AKC does reconize IPO or another version (VDH rules). What will happen with the AWDF IPO team?
Also if the SV no loner reconizes WDA, I am correct in thinking that WDA will no longer be allowed to send a team to the WUSV every year, or be part of it?

If AKC wants to sponsor America's team to the FCI IPO3 World Championship, it's my understanding that AKC would take precedence over AWDF.

WDA is not recognized by WUSV. It's WDA's parent/cousin/whatever, the GSDCA, that's recognized by the WUSV. When GSDCA talks to AKC, they tell them that WDA is not part of GSDCA...they have had to do this because of AKC's prohibition against biting sports. When GSDCA talks to WUSV, they tell them that WDA is part of GSDCA... that way the WDA team can represent GSDCA in the WUSV world championship.
USA is attempting to tell WUSV that WDA isn't part of GSDCA (just as GSDCA tells AKC), therefore the WDA team shouldn't be able to represent GSDCA... or America. I have my doubts that this tactic will work. I suspect that AKC is well on their way to revoking the prohibition against biting sports, at which time WDA can just merge into GSDCA and disappear as a separate organization. Time will tell... <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" />
