Just out of curiousity... which organization has more members DVG or USA? It seems that there are much fewer DVG clubs in my area, but this could be due to local factors.
Last I heard, DVG has roughly 1/4 the membership of USA (in the United States). DVG has more members in Germany and in other countries. They are headquartered in Germany.
hey what is up with the events web site. No finished scores or pictures?LOL. Anyway Phil Hoelcher won with a Malinois and I heard the tracking was not good.
I was at the event both days (got there late on Sunday)... Saturday was just Godawful in the weather dept., 40 degrees with driving rain and high winds. I felt for anyone trying to track a dog in that mess.
Sunday was still cold but the rain had subsided to a drizzle, which was a vast improvement...
I have to hand it to Madison Area Working Dog Association. They hosted a nice event and managed to keep smiling in the middle of some of the nastiest May weather ever seen in Wisconsin. The competitors exhibited a lot of "stiff upper lip" too. Didn't hear any pissing and moaning.
BTW I don't know who the helpers were but they were both first-rate. The guy on the back half managed one smooth catch after another on a field that had about an inch of standing water on it. Tough stuff.
On Saturday I saw one dog go for the judge. No injury, fortunately. Well-known handler. The conditions were so atrocious I'm surprised it didn't happen more often. I was standing IN FRONT of the grandstand and half the time I couldn't tell what was happening on the field. If anyone has a video of the event (doubtful given the conditions) you will see--or more likely, NOT see <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/frown.gif" alt="" /> ) what I mean.
