Hi all . . . I am forwarding a link that came accross the K9SAR list to support our Military K-9's and Handlers serving in the middle east to fight the war on terrorism, by sending care packages of treats/toys and small essentials for their handlers.
I'm sure care packages such as this would mean so much to our four-legged commrades from our working dogs stateside, as they serve in the fight for freedom and *protect & serve* our troops in this hostile environment.
. . . We will NEVER forget!!!
Thanks to all that have served in the past, in the present, and preparing for the future.
Wendy - do you have any experience with this group? or does anyone have any experience with this group?
They have a fancy web site but there was not one single name associated with this web site. It raises my suspicion level when I see this. Honest people are not afraid to have their name associated with a good cause.
If they are legit then they deserve support but if they are a scam they deserve to get some free advertising.
If I missed the part of the web site where the names of the people running this program are listed them please tell us.
Hi Ed . . . the info on the website states was started in 1995 by spouses of deployed servicemen. There is quite a bit of contact information supplied on that page (About Us).
No specific names however . . . Geez, I would be SO furious if it was a scam, and NO, I didn't check out the validity - it looked legit. to me - but admittidly, I'm too trusting and not suspicious enough about alot of things I perhaps should be
So how does one check the validity out
Hey all. If you want to contact/support MWD units in Iraq, I would be happy to help. I work in the same building as the PMO, and take bites from their dogs now and then. I can either link you with members of our company in the sandbox, or can let you know how to contact others.
While I will not provide any information on deployed units in an unsecure forum, I will tell you that I sent a similar package out about 18 months ago with the assistance of members of this board. I'll also tell you up front that they enjoy getting just about anything in the mail, but there are some restrictions.
Let me know if I can help to organize.
My posts reflect my own opinions, and not those of the Marine Corps or the United States.
Thanks!!! We are having our bi-monthly team meeting this Sunday and I put this on as a agenda item to discuss. If you could PM me with the details on how to proceed before then to share with my team, I can present your ideas also - that would be great!
I did see on that website what could and could not be sent as items, do you concur with those suggestions or have additional ones?
I have a good friend working over there as a civilian contractor. He is handling dogs for "Patriot K-9" On patrol with the U.S.milatary. Im sure he would answer your questions. You can reach him @ snake21@yahoo.com
His name is Jason.
