just something that i would like to share with especially the women is i love the prong collar, and have found that there're very hard to pinch to get on and off, so if you pick just one link, put a little piece of colored tape to idenify it, and use plyers to bend the link just a few minutes and losen it up, you'll be able to use it easier. works like a charm, now more cussing at it!
Thanks for the tip! I got so tired of fighting them ended up going and buying the quick release prong collars. Talk about easy, <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />
Hey Tammy, just a word of caution... when you really need it, that will be where the collar will come apart. I would try and order the french snap prong if getting one on and off your dog is an issue. Otherwise, you are going to be in a world of crap when it comes off...
The long scissor looking link on the chain is very easy to open with two fingers and then you slide the collar off over the head. To my knowledge Ed does not carry this style, maybe he should...
Search on the net for quick release or french snap prong and I am sure you will find retailers. Do not accept less than Hermes Sprenger, the quality is worth the extra $.
The quick release I have are HS's and cost me around $15.00. They don'th have to go over the head either. Just put chain thru the loop, use the scissor clip to secure the chain. Really are nice.
let me explain a little better what i do, i pick just one link as my connecting link for putting on and off the collar, work the two prongs with a pair of plyers, this warms up the metel enough so you can pinch the two prongs together much more easily with just your fingers. this process does not weaken the effectness of the collar. that is if you already have the prong collar and are having trouble with it, otherwise try deanna's collar.
