I've heard this phrase coined, and I believe it may apply to my rottie. When I pick up the prong collar, she gets excited as hell (she knows we're going for a walk). She listens SUPERBLY while on it. However, if she's not on the prong, her attention and obedience wanes (At times, DOWN is a struggle).
So, in eliminating this awareness, do I simply leave the prong on more during the day?

AAron, I would venture to say she listens better because of the prong itself, not " awareness". I would not leave on a prong collar. I only use it for training. Work on your obedience more to get better results, not leave the collar on to eliminate anything. Rome wasn't built in a day, practice , patience, practice,patience...
No one ever said life was supposed to be easy, life is what you make of it!!
Aaron - There was a topic a few months back, the use of the old method of off leash mid range distance attention getting. Look up or question the use of the throw chain. It seems to work and its cheaper then a E-collar $89 - $500.
