I saw Faro in Bratislava October 2000, he was excellent. He won the stud show in his category. He showed excellent courage, very nice retrieve and defence. I was surprised how fast he was sold to US! I don't know much about Eime. She has some WG show via Egir and Aso. Her sire's litter mate Cedy has tendency to produce some hectic dogs with nerve problems.
I have always been curious. How does a 2 year old dog win a Stud competition? I understand Dargo won it in 2001. Just a little slow sometimes, I would think you need to be older for that.
Todd,
The trick is "their category":-) They have multiple categories and Faro won his as I stated previously. The categories are: "A", "A1", "B" and "B1". Faro was 2.5yrs old when he won it. Dargo was 3yrs old last year when he won it. Young up coming:-)
Here's a question that remains to be answered........what do the Chezch and DDR lines have to offer that the lines from the former west grerman republic could not AND how can we use these lines to complement what we do hae from the former west german lines or is mixing this blood comperable to that of a Weinerau / Peko Haus mix?
The tree of Freedom needs to be nurtured with the blood of Patriots and tyrants. Thomas Paine
The West German lines are already in the Czech lines, if you look few generationsback into the pedigree you will see dogs like Elch Wienerau, Jack Silberhalls, Ruth Busecker Schloß, Marko Cellerland, Jalk Bachgautal, Quanto Wienerau, Eiko Kirschental just to mention few. These dogs are usually on the 4th and 5th generation on the current dogs pedigrees, most people have no idea that they are there.
Hanna-Leena:
You are the genealogist on the board and I would appreciate your insight. Any differences in the german shepherd started appearing after WW II, when Germany was split at which point the free world (W.Germany) and communist lines(DDR, Czech)came into existence . Some of the W.German lines were apparently overbred for commercial purposes, while the commie lines remained mostly working dogs. If this line of reasoning is correct, then the question is:what if any are the differences between DDR and Czech lines ?
To me there really isn't any difference between the Czech and former DDR working lines. The Czech has 10 blood lines and some of the the lines have more WG influence and others more DDR. But all dogs always end up with German lines:-) It was easier for the Czech's to go to former EG for breedings and to buy dogs than to go to WG for them at the time.
Faro's Breed Survey (Czech) says:
1st class 5JVQ5/55
I have read the explanations, but am unable to understand what the 5's after the Q represent. In fact I dont see any explanation for these numbers in the czech breed survey card.
You wont find it on the Czech breed survay card because he is a Slovakian dog. The last three numbers on his breed survay are similar to the old DDR breed survay.
