Hello to all, I have had three Dutch Sheps in my career. My exp is Dutch sheps concetration for tracking is just as good or could be better. Its hard to make that comparsion since there linked so close together. I have a little female that is 4.5 months old and she is doing the best tracking that I have seen so far. I would say it would depend on the training and what you are trying to acomplish. Do I think they could do a track that sat for a couple of hours and tracked for a couple of miles I would say doubtful about I would say the same for GSD's. Its a little hard to keep them going on a long track they would probably get boared. And the washout rate for a GSD or a Dutchie would be very high. So it depends on what your trying to acomplish.
Thats assuming you wasnt a tough high drive dog. This little girl has just crazy drive. I've worked her and she comes extreemly fast. Deb will problably be breeding her next year after her titles. It would be worth the wait.
You might want to contact Asheley Lane. She was high H.O.T. female handler at the 2002 USA SchH3 Nationals with her Dutchie bitch Dana vom Kelterhof... who was the youngest of 150 dogs entered in the trial. I believe that Asheley is going to breed Dana sometime this year.
I have trained with Asheley, she has an a great female. She has a great long bite, good obed and tracking. I think she is the best female Dutch Shepherd in the US especially for Schutzhund.
