We had an unpleasant incident in the neighborhood today. We have a relatively new neighbor that has quite a few children make a complaint about a neighbor dog.
I was out washing my car today & noticed the neighbor's children next to us had their mix breed dog out today. Some sort of cross with Wolf Hound mixed in. It is a nice dog, well-socialized and it plays outside frequently with the children. The only thing the children did wrong is they had no leash on the dog.
Well, the new neighbor's children were riding their bicycles past the dog's house. Dog is paying no attention to them. Only sitting next to the side of one of his "kids". (The dog is older & really doesn't play that much).
The next thing I know the new neighbor is charging up with his children & his children are trying to say the dog tried to bite them. I said no way.
I did go over & tell the dog's owner they had nothing to worry about as I saw the whole thing but what is to keep it from happening again?
The other night when I was walking one of my dogs I overheard one of his kids say something about what would I do if the dog bite me.
Bottom line, I think this is a man too lazy to work and has programed the kids into a possible law suit situation. They are small children--around five or six that until today never seem to have any adult supervision. They ride their bicycles in the street without looking for cars. No parent is ever out there.
What right do we have as dog owners. Keep in mind this was not my dog today but it could have been.
I am really upset about this as I don't like people that make their way through life with lawsuits. If you are so concerned about your children, why did I only see you today. Then my concern is also for the dogs as I have 3 GSD & I enjoy walking my dogs. What is too keep this idiot from claiming one of my dogs tried to bite his children.

You might want to check to see if your County Code of Ordinances, are online, most are now as mine. They will state how complaints are handled and how issues are enforced...i.e. leash laws..etc..
Next time he comes charging out with his mouth flapping... state to him with oozing concern: that you are really concerned about the hallucinations he is obviously experiencing.. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" /> if he barks back at that, further state to him child services would be interested why those kids are unsupervised.
He might just be a big mouth with nothing better to but harrass and most likely stop once stood up too, but until you know for sure you and others should watch out for each other just in case he is lawsuit happy. I hate jerks like that!
I lived next to an idiot like that once...
The idot next me would call LE on for disturbing the peace, just to do it. They would wake me out of sleep and tell me to quit slamming things around?? After about twenty trips to my house, & them stating they did not appreciate me not coming to the door, I had to show them proof that some of those times I was in fact out of town. They finally accepted the fact the guy was looney and went back after him for filing false reports. We had the big blowup w/me finding out he was doing the same to others...let's just say he relocated..
