This should be a good thread, I'm sure you all have had someone say or ask a really stupid question relating to dogs and training. Here is mine.
I was at the German Shepherd Sch Campionship last year in Canada. Of course there was nothing but German Shepherd Dogs there. I was standing at the dog equipment booth looking at neat stuff and a protection competitor comes off the field and was just walking around with her dog. As she got close to me this other woman walked up to her and asked "What kind of dog is that?" I almost cramped up laughing so hard, the woman turned to me and asked what was so funny, I replied "Ummm see the sign, it says "GERMAN SHEPHERD Sch Campionship" she of course started to see the humor in what she had asked, and began to turn all red laughing at herself. It was very funny.

Geeze, how many of these do you want? I get a new one every week.
A guy came in with his WGSD, wanted it trained for Arson detection. He asked if I could do that. I replied as long as the dog has the drives...
He then stated he had heard you are supposed to use one language for search commands and another for regular obedience. I told him if he wanted he could do that.
He then asked:
"Can a dog REALLY learn TWO languages?"
I told him to give me the dog and go get a cat.

And then there is always the same old question, usually asked by Bubba: I heard you guys get your dogs addicted to drugs, that is why they work so hard.

Any behavior that is reinforced is more likely to occur again.
I was teaching a puppy kindergarten class. There was a beautiful, nice temperamented Pit Bull in the class. After the first session I walked over to the owner and said: "That is a very nice Pit Bull you...." He cut me off and replied: "SSSHHHHHH!!!! I don't want HIM to know what HE is!"
I have a good one!
I lady once asked me, "Wow, your dog is really well trained. Mine won't do any of that stuff. Was yours born that way?"
Honest to God truth..............
WOW! hahahah I knew I could count on all of you to come up with some outragious stories....that one is really out there Caniche! WOW, Born that way Harrrrrrharrrharrr

This one came from a friend of mind so I hope I remember it right.
My friend worked for a vet and they had a phone call that these people had a male and female (Dalmations I think) they had let outside together and now they were "frozen" butt cheek to butt cheek (it was winter out). They said they tried pulling them a part but they couldn't do it. They were calling to see how they could get the dogs unfrozen.
I laughed so hard when hearing this story. They were told what was really going on much to their horror LOL
