Ok that last one was a great thread! I enjoyed that muchly. So here is another dumb ass convo I had with this hic in PA over the weekend.
I am walking my GSD downtown window shopping with my Mom and Dad, I am standing in front of a store just lookign at crap and this guy walks up and asks me what kind of dog I have, I reply "a German Shepherd" he says "Ahhh a Police Dog huh, are you a cop?" I say no but he is a sport dog in training for Sch. He says "What's that?" I tell him they are trialed in tracking obd and protection, he then says, "thoes are sure some big teeth, do they hurt when he bites?"
I'm like dubmfounded...my Mom just started laughing and said "Why don't you hiss at him a little bit, he likes that" The guy says "really? Hmmmmm" I had to step in and stop this idiot, because he was going to do it like a dumb ass....
I'm still amazed at that guy.

So here is another dumb ass convo I had with this hic in PA over the weekend. Hey now, you better be careful who you're calling a dumbass...that could've been one of my hic family members, probably on my father's side Depending where you were in PA, you might be pretty hard pressed to find someone who knew what Schutzhund is.
I'm worried about taking my male back to my old home town in PA for the reason you just mentioned. Some of the people there are so stupid, that they'll probably be barking/growling at him cause they think it's funny The whole town where I came from probably has a combined IQ of about 100.

It does piss you off don't it? I get people barking at my dog all the time, so "See how bad ass" he is. It's really stupid, it makes life very hard for a working dog owner to have a nice walk, but on the other hand it's perfect to train the ignore command, I just tell him "Leave it" and he won't give a second look, in fact people have a hard time with he won't comply with commands when they say it, like sit, folks try to get him to sit all the time when they meet him, he just looks at them like they are aliens. I just love that.
BTW, P.A. is Port Angles WA. No worries your hic family is safe from me! hahahahha

Oops! I thought you were talking about Pennsyltucky.
I have stupid people where I live now, who will walk past my big mean dog with their little children, and start barking & growling at him. When I tell them that he's not friendly and that's not a good idea, they just laugh and tell me that they aren't afraid of him!

LOL if I let Shadow go that would be the last time these people ever even THOUGHT about barking or growling at a dog. I don't have any desire to go to jail though

Back in the day when my family had a dobermann, we had a funny reaction (I wouldn't call it stupid) from a door-to-door salesman.
When my mom would answer the door, the dog would naturally be raising hell right behind her. Her normal excuse was always "I'm sorry, I can't control the dog. Bye."
On one occasion, the guy happened to be black, and his parting words were "I hope that dog don't like soul food."...ya know...referring to himself.

I read in American History 101 that huge amounts of residents from Pa. moved to the Port Angles, Washington area. These books do not lie. They had a chance to move to Louisiana but opted for the Northwest. Boy am I glad they did.
A dumb question??? Why did my dog snarl at me when picking up his food dish.
I'll tell you why, I've let him become a house dog, worse thing I could have done.
I know how to deal with that, Back to OB everyday, keeps his mind occuied, have to go easy on the hips.

Butch, I believe that's a dominance thing, isn't it?
My dog ever does that to me and I'm gonna have to put a foot up his butt.
