I'm really proud of my dog. His scores do NOT reflect his performance (well maybe tracking lol ). Protection judging was inconsistant and I was one of the first dogs to be judge in bitework. Some dogs he stood close for the call out others he did not. Some handlers he waved on right away others he made wait. Of course I was one of the ones that he made wait Anyway Dante did a great job with a few mistakes. The judge took all my points after the last out off the courage test for three bumps. He made me wait for an eternity to pick up my dog. Then when he asked me to approach the dog and the dog bumped he stopped me again and made me wait...My dog had a super blind search, the hold and bark was good, the call out was correct, the escape bite could have been a bit fuller, the heeling was good- only slight forging, attack was good and transport could have been slightly calmer (he nipped at the guys arm). Courage test was great. Best he's ever done. The initial grip could have been fuller but proud of him nonetheless. Out was correct. Barking could have been more consistant and we had two bumps and a small bite on the sleeve. Transport again could have been slightly calmer. Over all it felt super. He did go pronounced
My obedience he was really jazzed up and was biting my number and strings throughout the routine I've never talked under my breathe so much in my life He bit me so hard in the stomach it left a huge bruise the little brat...Sit out of motion (in my opinion ) was flawless but he said the build up was only good cause he was not straight--whatever I had not front off the down recall. Retrieves could have been slightly faster coming back and two commands for the down on the send out...
Tracking.... He started well then thought it was a timed exercise and decided if he wasn't going to win then at least he would be the fastest He ran down the track. He circled on the first corner quite a bit and I lost big points there. Then through out was a point here and there for high nose and of course speed. First two articles were correct. The last article he stood at and I gave a small, tiny, almost not existant handler help and it cost me all six points on the article... Since it is a National event they considered that stepping over the article even though he didn't... We need to work on our tracking...
All in all I am proud of my dog and his performace. Ed taped me so I can't wait to see what it looked like from Ed and Cind's point of view. He's still my Doodle Bug and always will be
Great play by play and congrats... I am going to have to move to IN so you Cindy can whip me into shape.
I am sure doodlebug was happy... new event means new toy!
