greetings all. all my life iv'e heard that neutering a male pup, before he is physically and mentally mature, will cause him to retain most of his puppy traits for a longer period of time. thereby causing him to take even longer to mature. any one have any solid remarks, pro or con?more than just curious. thanks very much. just jt.
Cant answer your question, But I will say Ive seen three adults neutered and they got agressive. Two ups a boxer and a GSD both of them were wired (hyper)
My male GSD was neutered at 18 months( did not pass OFA). <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/frown.gif" alt="" /> The neutering did not deminish any of his workability. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif" alt="" />
However he still mounts my female when she comes in heat, he's 7yrs old. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused.gif" alt="" /> This can be a pain at times.
thanks you guys. my real question , relates to a friends altered pup. he is 15 months, and terrified of his own shadow. it seems some kids scared the whey out of him when he was just a very little puppy, and now he cringes or trys to bolt and run back into the house if he hears kids playing. i just wondered if the altering had prolonged the maturation process, or if he was totally unsalvageable. any thoughts on this type of problem?
I dought that the altering has anything to do with it.Some times its hard, but until my dogs are over a year I wont even let my family watch them. and they play with no one unless Im there to supervise. It just takes one little scare to really mess them up.
Not to say that it cant be fixed, but its a lot of work and a lot of time. Is the dog worth it?
Is it a working dog or a pet?
ron im not sure , but i dont think i would even qualify it as a pet at this stage. he has some mixed lines. you know how people are . they buy a sales pitch, the first time out. i 'll do some more checking and get back to you. thatnk so much just jt.
