(Came on at 6am here: yeaaa..the VCR recording worked! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" /> )
Pretty good show, though 30 mins including ads doesn't allow for much depth. Too bad the times it is shown is not going to reach much of the general public...
Lots of talking-head scenes, but the explanations were good. (I like comparison to Martial Arts for dogs to counter the misconception of "attack" dog training.)
Much emphasis on the use of Schutzhund as an evaluation tool for breeding.
And lots of footage of a sable and a black gsd in action!
I watched it this morning. It featured the dogs and people from the Cumberland Valley, TN Schutzhund club.
I thought it was a nice introduction to and explanation of Schutzhund. If you missed it this morning, it will be shown twice more this week. You will need to have cable or DBS to get ESPN2. The sponsor, TSC, has done a very nice job with the K9 nation series.
I enjoyed it as well...they presented it very nicely even for those not experienced...
I even sent a note to ESPN stating they should strongly consider to air more segments on the subject. This breed is popular, and many who would find great interest in seeing much more on Schutzhund, the GSD, and it's purpose, not to mention the general public needing to be more educated on what a true GSD is all about.
I taped it too <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" />
I enjoyed it too, I wish it had lasted longer though. That is a good idea Tangi, I think I will send them a message thanking them for showing it and suggest they show the Nationals or something.
Stop making excuses for your dog and start training it!
DARN! I havent caught it yet, I leave for work before its on, and my VCR blinks 12:00.
Its nice to see something that doesnt take "Gunpowder" or "Bait" on ESPN or ESPN2. I fish and hunt but there is TONS more sports out there. Thanks for the recognition to ESPN folks.
The Schutzhund Story last airing is Sunday June 1, at 10:00 a.m. EST on ESPN2
Update: From what I understand, since this segment was well received, inquiries have been made about suggestions regarding what might be a direction to consider regarding additional segments.
