hey everyone,
I was just wondering if you guys out there who have pools let your dogs swim in them. My dog is now 9 months old and this is the first season that our pool has been open and we were wanting to teach him were the steps are and everything.
also is there any product that helps dog hair from not getting in the filter/ pump?
I would just like to add a word of caution about your pool. Please take the same precautions as you would a child that would be around a pool. Your dog should not have access to the pool if you are not there.
I lived in Florida for many years and it was always sad to hear that someones beloved pet drowned in the family pool. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/frown.gif" alt="" />
Lots of enjoyment in you pool, and I don't know of any products that would keep hair out of the filter.
Joyce is absolutely correct in stating that you should never let your dog have access to the pool without your being there. My sister has a neighbor that has had 3 dogs drown in their pool!! obviously they were stupid enough to let it happen the first time, but 3 times is incredibly ridiculous . Fortunately they took their pool down this year, and aren't getting anymore dogs.
I just bought a house the beginning of this year that has an inground pool. I treat my dog just like I do my twin 4 year olds around the pool.
Teach the dog how to get out of the pool. If they can't negotiate the steps or you don't have any, then install a ramp they can climb up and leave it in place all the time.
The advice to not let the dogs have access to the pool is good but they may still get in when you're not there.
