I suppose I should introduce myself. I kind of jumped in with questions in General Conversation and the All Natural Diet board.
I've been reading Ed's site and this forum for about a year and a half. I haven't had a dog since I lived at home.
As soon as my husband gets out of the military (only 425 more days  ), I'm planning to get a dog for Schutzhund and personal protection (and who knows what else). I've never been a huge fan of the GSD (I grew up thinking all GSDs had bad hips, crappy temperaments and looked like the freaks in the conformation ring), but the working lines are turning me around. My first dog will most likely be a GSD from one of the good breeders on this forum.
Anywho...I don't have any experience (beyond your generic pet owner) with dogs or dog sports, but I read everything I can get my hands on. I showed horses for years and that's where I developed an appreciation for German breeding (horses and dogs). Now, I just hang out here and try to soak up information.
What do you guys wish you had learned/read before getting involved in Schutzhund/personal protection training?
