would like to have help here. I have a six month old pup and would like to train her to bark. She has not barked when on a tie out trying to get her to bark for her bite tug. This pup is quiet. will bark to come in the house when out side or when she sees another dog/cat. How can i help to bring out her bark with out adding to much stress.

to worry is to pay interest on a debt you dont even own
I asked a similar type question regarding my 21 month old Malinois. I had a few good replies. See the training the dog to bark post on the actives board.
You guys are lucky. My GSD has a set idea of who constitutes a threat, and if she see's a person in this category she goes ape sh!t. I've told her to shut up a thousand times and it has made no difference at all.
Matthew,
There is a time and place for the dog to bark, and sometimes it has to be upon command. Likewise that dog also has to be able to control the barking upon command. My dog barks, often times for legitimate reasons, just not during training. I need her to distinguish a threat in the training scenarios we put her in, and bark when neccessary. If my dog won't produce a bark in some of these scenarios, then I am up s**t creek without the paddle, or the dog, so to speak. If you have a dog that won't stop barking, try a shock collar. The dogs know when the collar is on, and will not bark, usually. The collar worked great when my dog barked excessively.
Not to worry. Your puppy is only 6 MO. If you want to go for SchH just continue with prey building and keep it challenging. She will eventually bark.
Drew,
Saw your other thread on this also. But your dog is 21 MO and cannot be compared to this 6MO puppy. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" /> lol....

When the dog is confused, blame not the dog but shoot the handler.
David, her drive level will determine whether or not she'll bark. Not every dog can be frustrated to that level. But also, not every helper is equal either. I would work her with different helpers, as not all are on the same skill level. My dog varies on intensity depending on the helper's skill level to create a high level of frustration.
