OK, so now the UKC is going to jump into the "working dog" field and offer a title which involves bites ( modified bite jacket is the current thought )
The website for the new sport: http://www.servicedogsofamerica.com
Now I'll go on record as saying that the proposed AKC "working dog" title is just a weak SchH rip-off ( of course, what did we expect...the GSDCA helped set it up  )
But from what I see mentioned about the UKC variation, weak bites will be the order of the day.
Hopefully, it'll arrive stillborn.
I'm torn in regards to the AKC and UKC seeking to put together a working dog program.
It does show an increased interest and a bit of a acceptability factor that has been lacking in regards to the so called biting sports.
Unfortunatly IO also see a whole bunch of people using such watered down titles to promote themselves as qualified to train a in a bunch of loosly related disciplines.
Such as law enforcement, search and rescue, and various detector dog work.
I can also see it as a pseudo working dog environment. Sort of a dancing with dogs version of the European dog sports (if you haven't seen seen the AKC's dancing with dogs program, whatever its offcial name, you're in for a treat).
Ukc has always been more interested in a functional dog than AKC. I have no idea how this would apply to bite work though. Dancing dogs . It hard enough to watch a foo foo dog or even a Golden "dancing" with it's handler but when I saw a demo that had a Dobe and a Rott dancing with their "partners" I think I pulled out what little hair I had left on my head. It isn't even funny!
Looks like something I might do at home with the dog out of sheer silliness
There ain't enough beer brewed to get me to participate.
Grey hair, 230# guy doin' the waltz w/ a dog....auugh!!!!
I've done enough in my life I'm ashamed of to add such a thing.

Oh, admit it... you are just afraid CJ could out-dance you.
