Do their numbers seem a little off to anyone else? 5,000,000 bites a year but 800,000 needing treatment, 1000 per day in the emergency room works out to 365,000. Where are they getting their figures?
And another thought, what are the human on human attack statistics? The prevented crimes because someone has a dog?
I think they need to refocus their energy on stopping human on human crime - providing more funding for police, enforcing the sentences on criminals, and preventing crimes that cause people to want to have a dog to protect them but aren't responsible enough to care for them.
Elaine,
I did Emergency Medicine for years - those numbers are *under* reported. Remember, you can get treatment in an Urgent Care or a Physician's office - so number of people seeking treatment for a certain injury/ accident/ disease does not always equal number of ER visits.
And the treatment figures for ER's come from the M&MR -Mortality and Morbidity Reports, which each state gathers for certain diseases and injuries/ accidents. The reports are published and distributed monthly.
So getting yearly treatment figures in ER's for a certain type of case is actually easy.
Hmmm.....they even talk about "Structured Settlements " in it.
That entire site is a glossy advertisement for attorneys. Clever of them to mix in a tiny amount of public education into their ad.
Greatttt.....ambulance chasers invade the internet.
You got that right. I went over it a bit more in detail myself. Another way of simply advertising their business.
I had read the FAQ's and thought there was some pretty interesting information in there that would give us a 'heads up' about the direction the legal eageles are going. Looks like the direction continues to lead to the same old place. Their pocket.
