I have two Jack Russell Terriers. My male who is 2 1/2 years old is very territorial. He pees everywhere when new people come to my home or when he cannot be with me. He has even tried to pee on me. He was neutered at 6 months old. Help! How can I get him to stop? He knows when he has done it because he comes and wants to lick me and cuddle after he does it or he runs outside to hide. I know they are very dependent animals. The dog is great and I am at my whits end.
Did you crate train this dog as a puppy? If so start it again. When he comes to you and wants to cuddle DO YOU? I would say at this age if there is no medical reason for him doing this IMHO then this is dominant behavior. He is marking everything to show that is belongs to him. I would use NILIF hardcore untill this stops. JRT's although small can be pushy and it is up to you to stop this and show him who rules the roost. I would crate him everytime someone came over and when you can not watch him. I would leash him to me when he was out of the crate and then when I could no longer be with him put him right back in.In time he will learn that this is not appropriate behavior. I am assuming this dog was housebroken at some point and this is just some new behavior that has come up. If not start your housebreaking all over again and USE THE CRATE. Good luck <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif" alt="" />
