Hi everyone, I was hoping someone could help me locate a picture. I was telling my friend about a red sable GSD.
I had seen a picture on a website and cannot find which one it was or a website in general with a good picture of a red sable. The color of this dog was amazing and I wanted to show her how one looked. I have tried typing in "sable" and Red Sable" in the search but Im only getting pictures of regular sables and black sables.
If anyone can tell me where I can go to find a picture of if they have a picture I can see. Thanks in advance for any information
Thank you Meghan, and you also Lee for the PM. The pictures were great. They are remarkable.
Can you guys tell me what the difference in appearance between a black and tam which is mostly black and a bi-color? Meghan I know you have an answer
Meghan I noticed on the web site the two, and me not having a trained eye, didnt see much of a difference.
If you look closely, you'll see on bicolor dogs, there isn't any tan under their belly, or on the body. Picture a dobe or rottweiler's coloring, on a GSD body, with some tan on the chest and possibly over the eyes.
The really dark blanket back black and tans (hmm try saying that 3x fast...) usually have tan under their bellies, and it goes a lot farther up on their legs. And I'd guess there's some tan on the bottom of their tails.
You know, I'm not sure how breeders & the AKC determine coloring of a dog. I have a 4 1/2 mo. old "Black & Tan" GSD which many people might consider to be a bi-color. He is jet black, with tan markings on his legs, a little tan on his chest, and cheeks. I have seen other dogs that were classified as black and tan, and there is no comparison between my dog's coloring and theirs. I assumed since my dog had lighter tan markings on his cheeks that he wasn't what most would call a true bi-color. Anyone else have any input on this subject?
John,
My Kane, probably looks alot like your 4 1/2 mo. old. He is mostly black, with tan on his cheeks a little on his chest and legs, but the inside of all his legs are tan also, and his "arm pits" I assume they look alot alike. What do the parents of your puppy look like?
