hello all,
ok , my 11 month old rottie bitch just loves strangers. Any one new that comes to the house she cant wait to meet them. if it wernt for the slippy wooden floors it would be hard to stop her climbing an thier laps.
I thought that this type of dog was supposed to be not so trusting of strangers.
Please tell me if this is normal at her age , or is my dog just a softie . thanks Dave
This is a good thing what your PUP is doing. First of all a Rott at 11 months old is still a pup and matures very slowly......it would be like asking your 10 year old to protect your house. Sounds like your Rott has nice nerves and is not afraid of people, which is a good thing. Later on when she is more mature (and if she has the correct drive and nerves) and you wanted her to bark at the door or be a protection dog, then you can teach her that a noise outside, or a stranger coming to the house could end up as an attack on the home, handler, and herself, then she will get suspicious of noises and strangers.
If she were growling, showing a lot of teeth, and hackling at strangers at this age, it would be a sign of WEAKNESS, not strength......she does not fear them, and they are no threat to her.
